Port of Duqm is a major deep-water port located in the Al Wusta region of Oman and is a key part of the broader Duqm Special Economic Zone (SEZAD). Developed as a strategic logistics and industrial hub under Oman’s economic diversification plans, the port supports bulk cargo, containers, dry dock services, petrochemicals, and heavy industries, and is designed to serve global shipping routes between Asia, Africa, and Europe.
Overview
A Terminal Operations Staff member is responsible for the day-to-day movement of cargo, containers, and vessels inside the port terminal. The job ensures that loading, unloading, and storage operations run safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Vessel Operations
Assist in berthing and unberthing coordination
Monitor loading/unloading of ships
Communicate with crane operators, supervisors, and vessel crew
Cargo & Container Handling
Track movement of containers (import/export/transit)
Coordinate with equipment operators (RTG, reach stacker, forklifts)
Ensure correct stacking and yard allocation
Systems & Documentation
Use terminal operating systems (TOS) to:
Update cargo status
Record container movements
Prepare basic reports (shift logs, cargo counts, delays)
Safety & Compliance
Follow strict HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) rules
Report hazards, incidents, or damages
Ensure operations comply with port regulations
Coordination & Communication
Work closely with:
Supervisors
Truck drivers
Customs and logistics teams
Manage traffic flow inside the terminal
