Summary / Primary Role
The Terminal Operations Manager is responsible for leading the overall performance, service execution, safety, and growth of Odyssey’s Soldotna terminal. This is a great opportunity for a hands-on logistics leader who wants to manage a smaller terminal operation while still having the backing, resources, and growth opportunities of a global logistics organization.
This role offers the opportunity to be close to the operation, lead and develop the local team, strengthen customer relationships, and help expand Odyssey’s presence in the Alaska market. The position blends operational leadership, safety accountability, cost management, customer service, and business development.

What You’ll Do
We are seeking a strong terminal operations leader who can take ownership of day-to-day execution while helping grow the business. This person will lead with a safety-first mindset, build a high-performing team, drive operational discipline, and partner closely with Sales and cross-functional teams to deliver excellent customer service.

Operational Leadership
  • Oversee daily terminal operations, including receiving, loading and unloading, staging, dispatch, yard activity, fleet coordination, and service execution.
  • Lead, coach, and develop employees while supporting staffing, onboarding, training, performance management, and workforce planning.
  • Manage terminal expenses, labor planning, overtime, vendor spending, and productivity to support cost control and service performance.
  • Use operational systems, reporting, KPIs, and process improvement tools to improve efficiency, accountability, and overall terminal performance.
Safety and Compliance
  • Champion a safety-first culture across the terminal and ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, FMCSA, HAZMAT, and company safety standards, as applicable.
  • Conduct routine safety audits, facility walk-throughs, yard inspections, incident reviews, and corrective action follow-up.
  • Partner with Safety and Operations leadership to maintain strong safety performance, equipment compliance, and employee accountability.
Customer Service and Business Growth
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with current customers while helping identify opportunities to grow existing accounts.
  • Partner with Sales and Pricing to support customer visits, market intelligence, pricing strategies, and new business opportunities.
  • Represent Odyssey in the local market and help build a qualified pipeline aligned with the terminal’s capacity and service capabilities.
Process Improvement and Team Development
  • Develop and improve SOPs, work instructions, and standard operating practices to create consistency and drive better results.
  • Identify opportunities to improve dock, office, city, linehaul, dispatch, and supervisory functions.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Claims, Customer Service, Pricing, Safety, HR, Finance, and Sales to strengthen service execution and workforce planning.
What You Bring

  • 5+ years of logistics, 3PL, terminal, distribution center, cross-dock, freight forwarding, trucking, or transportation operations experience.
  • 2+ years of people leadership experience, including coaching, training, staffing, performance management, and employee engagement.
  • Strong understanding of terminal operations, safety compliance, service execution, labor planning, and cost control.
  • Financial acumen, including experience with P&L, pricing levers, cost-to-serve, margin analysis, or operating expense management.
  • Customer-facing communication skills with the ability to build relationships, resolve issues, and represent the business professionally.
  • Ability to lead changes, standardize processes, improve performance, and drive measurable operational results.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to use reporting tools and operational systems to manage performance.
  • Outside sales, business development, customer prospecting, or logistics sales experience preferred.
  • Ability to become certified forklifts.
