JOB SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES

POET Biofuels is a global leader in the energy and agricultural space. We started as a supplier of

fuel bioethanol, and have grown into a multi‐commodity marketing and transportation company

providing solutions in fuels, grains, and carbon dioxide markets. Our terminal operations play a crucial role in delivering sustainable biofuels to our customers. As an Operations Technician, you will have the opportunity to support POET’s efforts to deliver our products to customers on time, within the required specifications, and without hassle.

This is an on-site position located in Buda, TX. Team members are required to work shifts, overtime, and occasional weekends and holidays. Responsibilities include:

  • Supervise the day-to-day operations of the terminal.
  • Perform maintenance activities, promote safe work habits and a safe work environment.
  • Maintain time, work orders, material, facility equipment and other records.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair equipment problems to minimize downtime and ensure proper operations.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental standards and governmental regulations.
  • Communicate with fuel transportation drivers, terminal personnel, vendors and customers.
  • Ensure proper inventory levels are maintained, and truck rack operations are functioning properly.
  • Since we’re all about teamwork and getting the job done, your skills may be put to a lot of other uses!

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2+ years of experience in a related field.
  • Proven ability to work in a self-directed environment.
  • Capable of dealing with changing priorities and the ability to prioritize tasks appropriately.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude and ability.
  • Candidates must live or be willing to relocate to an area within 30-45 minutes from the terminal location.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills with a sense of urgency that drives results.
  • Knowledge of the basics of Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn new programs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • This role has some physical requirements that our team members will need to be able to perform, including, but not limited to walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling up and/down ladders and stairs, negotiating uneven surfaces, and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.
  • Due to the physical and safety-sensitive nature of this job, you will be subject to a physical and expected to pass a drug screen during the pre-screen process. During employment, you’ll be subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
