ISEE, ACT & SAT Prep Tutor
Pay: $40.00 - $80.00 per hour
Position Type: Part-Time Contract (1099)
Location: Nashville, TN (Belle Meade, Green Hills, Brentwood, Franklin, and surrounding areas)
Hours: Flexible scheduling; primarily after-school, evening, and weekend hours
About Thrive Tutoring
Thrive Tutoring is seeking an experienced and results-driven test preparation tutor to join our growing team. We are looking for educators who can confidently prepare students for the ISEE, ACT, and SAT through personalized, one-on-one instruction in students' homes.
This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate educator who enjoys helping students build confidence, master test-taking strategies, improve scores, and achieve their academic goals. Our families are looking for highly skilled tutors who can provide individualized instruction while fostering motivation and accountability.
Responsibilities
- Assess students' baseline performance through diagnostic testing and informal evaluations
- Develop personalized study plans based on students' goals, timelines, and target scores
- Prepare high-impact lessons in advance of each tutoring session
- Teach content-specific skills in math, reading, writing, grammar, and test-taking strategies
- Deliver engaging, one-on-one tutoring sessions tailored to individual student needs
- Travel to students' homes throughout the Nashville area for tutoring sessions
- Monitor progress and adjust instruction based on student performance
- Communicate promptly and professionally with students, families, and the Thrive team
- Coordinate scheduling with families and the Thrive team
- Provide parents with session feedback and progress updates
- Assign practice work and provide students with post-session action items and study plans
- Maintain accurate records and follow through on all commitments
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience tutoring or teaching standardized test preparation
- Strong knowledge of the ISEE, ACT, SAT, or similar standardized exams
- Demonstrated track record of helping students improve test scores and gain admission to competitive schools and programs
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Passion for working with students and helping them build confidence
- Experience creating individualized learning plans and targeted lesson materials
- Highly dependable, organized, and professional
- Self-starter who thrives in a collaborative and entrepreneurial environment
- Natural ability to build rapport with students and families
- Empathetic, patient, and responsive to individual learning needs
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel throughout the Nashville area
Preferred Qualifications
- Current or former classroom teacher
- Experience teaching honors, AP, or advanced coursework
- Private school teaching experience
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Education, Mathematics, English, Science, or a related field
- Experience preparing students for private school admissions exams and college entrance exams
- Familiarity with score reporting, test formats, and current testing trends
