Roles and Responsibilities – Testing & Commissioning Engineer (HVAC)
1. Pre-Commissioning Preparations
- Review project specifications, drawings, and equipment submittals to prepare detailed testing and commissioning (T&C) plans.
- Ensure all HVAC equipment (chillers, AHUs, FCUs, VRF/VRV systems, pumps, cooling towers, ducting, piping, etc.) is installed as per approved drawings and standards.
- Verify availability of calibrated instruments, tools, and test kits required for T&C activities.
- Coordinate with project/site teams for readiness checks before commissioning (power availability, water flushing, duct cleaning, etc.).
2. Testing & Commissioning Execution
- Perform functional checks, start-up, balancing, and performance tests for HVAC equipment and systems.
- Carry out air balancing, water balancing, and system fine-tuning to meet design requirements.
- Ensure safety checks and compliance during all T&C activities.
- Troubleshoot issues and coordinate with vendors/manufacturers for resolution.
3. Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare method statements, inspection test plans (ITPs), and commissioning schedules.
- Record test results, prepare T&C reports, and maintain logs of site activities.
- Prepare O&M manuals, as-built drawings inputs, and training material for end-users.
- Assist in preparing final handover documents in compliance with client and consultant requirements.
4. Coordination & Compliance
- Liaise with consultants, clients, and third-party agencies for inspections and approvals.
- Ensure compliance with ASHRAE, SMACNA, CIBSE, and relevant Bahrain authority standards.
- Coordinate with electrical, plumbing, firefighting, BMS, and controls teams for integrated system commissioning.
- Support facility management/end-user training on operation of HVAC systems.
5. Handover, DLP & PPM Management
- Participate in system demonstration and acceptance tests with client/consultant.
- Manage all HVAC-related activities during the Defect Liability Period (DLP), including attending breakdown calls, troubleshooting, and corrective actions.
- Plan, schedule, and execute Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) for all commissioned projects under DLP.
- Coordinate with service teams, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure timely resolution of warranty issues.
- Provide technical support to clients and ensure smooth operation of systems throughout the DLP.
Qualification : Mechanical Engineer
Experience 12-15 years , out of which minimum 10 in GCC Countries
