About the Role
Ensures 13.8-380 kV substation electrical systems are installed, tested, and commissioned per design specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations, verifying performance, addressing issues, and ensuring reliable, safe operation before handover.
Responsibilities
- Inspect and verify installation of equipment, cabling, and protection systems.
- Conduct primary and secondary injection tests, insulation resistance tests, transformer turns ratio (TTR) tests, and functional tests.
- Identify and resolve technical issues during commissioning and startup.
- Work closely with project engineers, site managers, and contractors to ensure smooth commissioning.
- Prepare detailed commissioning reports, testing logs, and as built records.
- Ensure systems meet operational and safety standards before handover to operations teams.
- Identify and diagnose faults in high voltage equipment and protection systems, perform systematic tests to isolate issues, conduct root cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and re verify system performance.
- Maintain detailed records and coordinate with teams while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Maintain adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory standards throughout testing and commissioning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems Engineering.
- Certification or training in substation commissioning and testing (e.g., IEC standards, relay testing courses).
- 5-7 years in testing and commissioning of high voltage substations (13.8 kV-380 kV).
- 2 years experience in similar role.
- Proficiency in protection relay settings, SCADA systems, and diagnostic software.
- Strong knowledge of international standards (IEC, IEEE, ANSI).
