Role Overview
The PGT English teacher will be responsible for teaching English to senior secondary students (Classes XI & XII) in accordance with the CBSE curriculum. The role requires strong subject knowledge, effective pedagogy, and the ability to prepare students for board examinations while fostering critical thinking, communication skills, and literary appreciation.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging English lessons as per the CBSE curriculum
- Teach prose, poetry, drama, grammar, writing skills, and literature effectively
- Prepare students for CBSE board examinations with a focus on academic excellence
- Design lesson plans, worksheets, assessments, and enrichment activities
- Evaluate students’ academic performance and provide constructive feedback
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessments, and student progress
- Encourage reading habits, creative writing, debates, and discussions
- Integrate ICT tools and innovative teaching methods in the classroom
- Participate in academic planning, curriculum development, and staff meetings
- Mentor students and provide guidance for academic and personal growth
- Maintain classroom discipline and a positive learning environment
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, when required
Required Qualifications
- Postgraduate degree in English (M.A. English) from a recognized university
- B.Ed. degree (mandatory)
- CTET qualification (preferred, as per CBSE norms)
Experience
- Minimum 2–5 years of teaching experience at the senior secondary level
- Experience in teaching CBSE curriculum is mandatory
