TIG Welder/Fabricator

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Welder to join our team. As a Welder, you will be responsible for fabricating and assembling metal structures and equipment through the use of welding techniques. This is a full-time position with competitive pay.

Duties:

- Perform various types of welding, including TIG welding, stick welding, MIG welding, etc.

- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and specifications to determine the layout and configuration of metal components

- Measure and mark workpieces using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments

- Operate hand tools and power tools to cut, shape, and smooth metal surfaces

- Use forklifts and other material handling equipment to transport materials as needed

- Inspect welds for accuracy and quality control

- Proven experience as a Welder or similar role

- Proficient in MIG welding,techniques

- Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of metal fabrication processes

- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and specifications

- Familiarity with using measuring instruments

- Knowledge of various hand tools and power tools used in welding

- Ability to operate forklifts or willingness to learn

- Attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality welds

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $37,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year (Performance based)

Work Location: In person

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Welds together metal components as specified by layout, blueprints, diagrams, or manufacturing operations sheet (MOS), using Tig welding equipment.
  • Connects cables from the welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse as specified. Starts power supply to produce electric current.
  • Manually guides torch along weld line, maintaining length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color of metal, sound of weld, and size of molten puddle.
  • Welds in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.
  • Examines weld for bead size and other specifications.
  • Manually applies filler rod to supply weld metal. Cleans weld joint or workpiece. Prepares rework parts for welding.
  • Positions or clamps workpieces together or assembles them in a jig or fixture.
  • May tack assemblies together.

Job Requirements:

  • Able to subtract, multiply and divide fractions, decimals and whole numbers
  • Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral or graphic form
  • Able to apply learning and experience to deal with variables within specifications
  • Able to read safety rules in the use and maintenance of shop equipment.
  • Able to read related technical material and apply principles to daily operations (this includes reading and interpreting blueprints).
  • Able to accurately read and complete forms
  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds. May occasionally lift 50 pounds (with assistance).
  • Able to complete the Elano welding vision test (as a new hire and annually)
  • Ability to use standards shop measuring devices (calipers and micrometers)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Successful completion of a TIG Welding Training Course (formal program) or previous experience as a TIG welder with 6 months experience
  • Successful completion of K3 Copper TIG Welding Assessment
