Role Description:
Tire Fitter is required to inspect, install, and repair the Heavy Trucks tires in our transport fleet. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring all trucks have safe, durable, and properly fitted tires, minimizing breakdowns and maximizing fleet efficiency.
Key Tasks:
Tire Fitting, Maintenance, and Stock Management
- Inspect, remove, and replace worn or damaged truck tires.
- Fit new tires and balance them for smooth operation.
- Ensure proper tire alignment and pressure to extend lifespan and improve fuel efficiency.
- Repair punctured or damaged tires using patching and vulcanizing.
- Check and adjust tire pressure regularly according to manufacturer specifications.
- Perform wheel balancing and alignment adjustments to ensure proper truck handling.
- Use alignment and balancing equipment to reduce vibrations and tire wear.
- Detect and report misalignment or suspension issues affecting tire performance.
- Maintain records of tire usage, replacements, and repairs.
- Monitor tire inventory and coordinate with the workshop supervisor for restocking.
- Ensure proper storage of spare tires and maintain workshop cleanliness.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow safety procedures when handling heavy tires and equipment.
- Ensure all tires meet road safety regulations and transport industry standards.
- Use proper tools and lifting techniques to avoid workplace injuries
Qualifications & Skills required:
- High school diploma or a Technical Certificate in Tire Fitting, Automotive Repair, or a related field
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience as a Tire Fitter in a transport, logistics, or fleet maintenance workshop
- Ability to lift heavy truck tires, stand for long hours, and work in a physically demanding environment
- Strong understanding of tire types, tread patterns, tire pressure, and balancing techniques
- Proficiency in using tire-changing machines, balancers, and air compressors
- Ability to detect tire defects, and alignment issues
