Title Attorney

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Title Attorney to join our legal team. The Title Attorney will be responsible for examining real estate titles, resolving title issues, preparing legal documentation, and providing legal guidance related to property transactions. This role ensures that property titles are clear and marketable, helping to facilitate smooth and legally sound closings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and analyze title commitments, and public records to determine the status of property titles.
• Identify and resolve title defects, including liens, encumbrances, boundary disputes, and chain-of-title issues.
• Work closely with title examiners, escrow officers, underwriters, and clients to clear title issues.
• Draft curative documents such as affidavits, releases, easements, and corrective deeds.
• Assist in the preparation of title commitments and final policies.
• Stay current with federal, state, and local laws related to real estate and title.

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in Indiana is required.
• Active license to also practice law in Michigan is a plus.
• Familiarity with title insurance, real estate transactions, and escrow procedures.
• Strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience working with a title company, real estate law firm, or in-house legal team.
• Litigation experience related to real estate disputes (optional).
