Job Summary
The Title Examiner (Hybrid, Richardson, TX) is responsible for reviewing Title Commitments, preparing and reviewing Title abstracts, and resolving problems with Chain of Title, unsatisfied liens and title defects. The Title Specialist must have a strong ability to understand the legal description of the property and exceptional knowledge of state lien laws covering mortgages, tax liens and mechanics liens.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Reviews and administers final approval of all Title Commitments.
- Researches and resolves any title issues, defects, concerns and following up with outside vendors. Knowledge of Title Abstracts and Chain of Title ensuring compliance.
- Interacts as a liaison for Legal with the Sales/Operations Retail team.
- Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required; BA/BS preferred.
Experience
- Minimum three years’ experience in residential mortgage .
Functional/Technical Skills
- Exceptional knowledge of Title Commitments
- Knowledge of State Lien laws, Mortgage Tax Liens and Mechanics Liens.
- General knowledge of practices and procedures of the Mortgage industry, department, or specialized function.
- Possess basic knowledge of probate law
- Ability to work within stringent deadlines and work in a team-oriented environment.
- Excellent customer service skills
- Able to respond to inquiries promptly and accurately.
- Strong problem solving and/or organizational skills.
- Individual must be well organized and able to handle multiple assignments.
- Works well with others.
- Strong mathematical skills.
- Strong PC skills (MS Office products)
- Experience with mortgage loan origination systems. Encompass 360 system experience a plus.
