Title IV-E Eligibility & Medicaid Specialist

Move forward in your career by applying to become a Title IV-E Medicaid Eligibility Specialist for the Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS)!. This incredible opportunity involves making initial and continuing Title IV-E and Medicaid eligibility determinations for Foster Care children, all in accordance with Federal, State, and DHHS policy and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Collecting and reviewing client information to determine client's/applicant's eligibility and options.
• Preparing and/or processing documents; reviewing for accuracy and completeness; updating information and/or
• evaluating against policy; comparing elements for consistency or logical relationships, etc.
• Referring clients to other available services to meet needs where appropriate.
• Consulting with Division of Child Family Services staff regarding eligibility requirements when necessary.
• Maintaining and/or creating files or record keeping systems; sorting, labeling, filing, and retrieving documents,
• and/or other materials.
• Entering data into relevant databases such as EREP, and SAFE
• Participate in Peer Reviews, state and Federal audits.

Qualifications

• 
  Has excellent computer skills and technologically savvy required;
• Has organization skills, strong oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills; and a strong commitment to customer service;
• Is detail oriented;
• Is able to weigh the relative costs and benefits of a potential action;
• Knowledge, skills, and abilities related to the Title IV-E Medicaid Eligibility Specialist position Title IV-E;
• Reading, interpreting, and applying laws, rules, regulations, policies and/or procedures;

• Knowledge of State or agency-specific software application program(s);
• Knowledge of SAFE (i.e., State social services computer application program);
• Experience with Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Meet; Microsoft Word & Excel;
• Knowledge and experience with Foster care services.

• Preference may be given for experience in or knowledge of Title IV-E and Medicaid and/or two or more years experience working in government or public programs.
• May be given to current DCFS employees

Supplemental Information

• Only applicants invited to interview will be notified.

• May require 24-hour on-call services/time. 24-hour on-call services response time to be determined by the agency.

• Department of Human Resource Management rules regarding promotions and transfers apply to current employees.

• Travel required; you may be required to use your personal vehicle to perform the duties of this position; approved mileage is reimbursable through State Finance.

• All DCFS job offers are contingent upon passing a Background Screening Application (BSA).

• Must have a valid Utah driver’s license.

• A position’s eligibility for hybrid work is established by agency management and is subject to change at their discretion at any time and for any reason.

• The State of Utah requires all employees to physically work inside the State of Utah Boundaries.

Physical Requirements

• Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.

Working Conditions

• Risk found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heaters and ventilated, safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc..
