WAGE: $24.49

Under the supervision of Healing to Wellness Court Program Administrator, work with individuals referred and accepted in the Juvenile Family Healing to Wellness Court, assess their ongoing needs, coordinate services, and ensure compliance with program guidelines. This position will have frequent contact with clients, service providers, and the HTWC team to ensure follow through is taking place. All Tribal Court staff must adhere to mandated reporting laws. This is a grant funded position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and financial management to professional and administrative personnel in the Juvenile Family Healing to Wellness Court.
  • Assess needs of clients through use of intake paperwork and individual interview.
  • Complete weekly home visits of the participants in the Juvenile Family Healing to Wellness Court on a weekly basis.
  • Attend weekly Healing to Wellness meeting to coordinate care with multi-disciplinary team.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of each client.
  • Maintain confidentiality standards and complete required Releases of Information as necessary.
  • Ensure that the clients meet program requirements for random drug testing.
  • Serve as a transporter to juvenile clients as needed.
  • Complete weekly client progress reports for Juvenile Family Healing to Wellness Court team staff meetings.
  • Frequent contact with clients throughout the program duration.
  • Work cooperatively with other agency administers to effectively achieve Juvenile Family Healing to Wellness Court goals.
  • Contact, coordinate, and communicate with resources for treatment and other client needs.
  • Conduct, record, compile, and store Juvenile Family Healing to Wellness Court data for use in program progress and evaluation activities.
  • Conduct public presentations to promote awareness and education about the program.
  • Develop and administer annual capital and department budgets; review monthly requests for services, past spending, and other monthly reports.
  • Conduct invoice bill paying thru applicable software system.
  • Prepare all required reports and data for grants awards supporting the Juvenile Family Healing to Wellness Court.
  • Serve as liaison with Grants department in providing data and any additional information needed in grant proposal and application development.
  • Adhere to client confidentiality and comply with department policies and federal regulations under the Privacy rules of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Provide excellent customer service for all internal and external customers of the operations at all times. Provide solutions for customer concerns and continually focus on customer service as our top priority.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality and present a positive, professional demeanor and image at all times.

Contacts/Purpose of Contacts:

  • Contact with youth, adults, other family members, social services, treatment agencies, and other agencies and providers deemed appropriate to accomplish effective services.
  • Empowered to interact at all levels of personnel in order to accomplish client goals.
  • Frequent contact with Tribal members and descendants, administrative staff, social services agencies, police agencies, prosecutor, Tribal and public education schools, and members of the general public as individuals or groups that will benefit the JHTW program.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Business Administration, Education, or related field.
  • Two years experience working in the Human Services or Education environment.
  • An equivalent combination of education and directly related experience may be considered.
  • Experience in working collaboratively across multiple organizations and community systems.
  • Experience related to the appropriate recipient population.
  • No felony convictions and no misdemeanor convictions in the past five (5) years.
  • Must be able to pass background check to meet the employment eligibility requirements as they pertain to the position.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Program development, planning and grant writing experience.
  • Experience in data collection, complex qualitative and quantitative analysis.
  • Experience with and knowledge of Native American traditions and culture.
  • Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite and communication skills.

License, Certification, or Special Requirements:

  • Willing to work toward CADC certification.
  • Obtain yearly HIPAA training and certification and BLS certification within probationary period.
  • Must have a valid State of Michigan Driver’s License with the proper designation required for the vehicle utilized to perform the job duties; must be able to obtain and maintain a Tribal Driver’s License and qualify for coverage by SCIT auto liability insurance carrier.
  • Native American preference shall apply to all positions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, county and local laws, regulations, and requirements.
  • Knowledge and experience with program planning.
  • Knowledge of the court system and alternative programs.
  • Knowledge of substance abuse treatment protocols, co-occurring disorders and the judicial/legal system.
  • Knowledge of Native American traditions and culture.
  • Skill in grant writing.
  • Skill in Microsoft programs, including Word, Excel, Publisher, Access, and Outlook.
  • Skill in treating clients with tact, courtesy, and respect.
  • Skill in coordinating and planning programs and other educational and outreach activities.
  • Ability to investigate and analyze information and to draw conclusions.
  • Ability to react quickly and make effective decisions in an emergency situation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels.
  • Ability to represent organization in a professional manner, building respect and confidence in the community.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in verbal or written format.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent use of hands, wrists, fingers associated with computer equipment.
  • Required to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally walk and stand and reach with arms and hands.
  • Normal visual acuity, ability to talk and hear.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

Work Environment

  • Normal office environment.
  • High stress level as associated with the demands of crisis interventions and emergencies.
  • Mandated reporting of abuse and neglect can lead to personal challenges with exposure to victims of abuse.
  • High incidence of exposure to communicable diseases and blood borne pathogens.
  • Work is primarily performed, but not limited to, office and community settings and requires working with a variety of people in sometimes difficult and stressful circumstances.
  • Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
  • Travel may be required.
