Are you nurturing, patient, and passionate about helping young children explore the world around them? Join our team at Young Expression Daycare as a Toddler Classroom Staff member! You’ll help create a warm, engaging, and safe environment for our 1- and 2-year-old children as they learn, play, and grow.
This is a hands-on role ideal for individuals who love working with toddlers.
Responsibilities
- Implement daily activity schedules that spark toddlers’ curiosity and learning.
- Ensure each child’s personal cleanliness, including diaper changes and hygiene routines.
- Get on the floor and actively play, talk, and connect with children throughout the day.
- Assist in maintaining a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
- Support language development and literacy through songs, books, and conversation.
- Help select classroom materials such as age-appropriate books and toys.
- Assist in meal and snack serving.
- Keep the classroom clean, organized, and free from hazards.
- Collaborate effectively with coworkers to ensure a supportive team environment.
- Build strong, positive relationships with families and encourage their involvement.
- Support toddlers’ social and emotional growth through positive interactions and guidance.
- Attend all staff meetings, required training programs, and professional development sessions.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Experience working with young children (ages 1–2) in a child care or similar setting.
- Understanding of safety protocols and common childhood illnesses.
- Patience, attentiveness, and strong time management skills.
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and adapt to changing routines.
- Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs, sit on the floor, and stand for extended periods.
- Awareness and responsiveness to children’s needs at all times.
- Positive communication skills with coworkers and parents.
- Willingness to work both indoors and outdoors in varying noise levels and weather.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High school diploma, equivalent, or certificate of coursework completion
- Must meet Texas state licensing requirements (background check, fingerprinting, etc.)
