Toddler Lead Teacher

Avondale Children’s Center (ACC) is a premier 5-star childcare center in Dilworth area. We are looking for an experienced, warm and friendly lead teacher full-time for our older preschool classroom. The teacher is responsible for the development and implementation of educational programs for children in a specific classroom, in accordance to ACC’s curriculum, procedures and initiatives. The daily lesson plans must provide a learning environment that is safe, comfortable and healthy, in which the child can grow physically, emotionally, socially, intellectually, and spiritually. It is an eight hour workday Monday through Friday. ACC offers competitive wages and benefits.
Education/Experience
- Associates or Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood or related field preferred
- Minimum two years of experience working with infants and/or toddlers
Essential Functions
- Prepare lesson plans and successfully implement curriculum in accordance with directives and implementation guidelines: plan and execute appropriate early childhood education experiences with a variety of materials in the fields of art, music, literature, science, mathematics, etc.
- Promote and supervise age appropriate activities which promote the healthy emotional, social, intellectual and physical development of each child.
- Interact with children while supervising. Interactions include, but are not limited to, playing with children at their physical level, problem solving, communication that engages children, encouraging children to explore further development, eating all meals with the children and assisting them in development of good nutritional habits.
- Responsible for setting up classroom décor and learning environment: provide and maintain a neat organized classroom; take responsibility for upkeep of all educational equipment and materials.
- Relate to the needs of each child from a cultural perspective and help children appreciate diversity. Develop a cooperative and supportive attitude within the classrooms.
- Encourage a “can-do” attitude in children by maintaining a positive attitude at all times.
- Adhere to the school Discipline Policy and help children control behavior using a positive and consistent approach.
- Maintain all licensing and sanitation requirements within the classroom, on the playground, and on field trips.
- Document and report all accidents and incidents.
- Prepare a monthly newsletter.
- Maintain records of each child’s growth and development in their individual child portfolio. Plan, organize and conduct annual parent-teacher conferences.
- Perform all tasks and other duties as assigned by Director or Assistant Director.

Additional Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, implementation and operation of successful and creative educational programs, extra-curricular activities/clubs, summer programs and all other enrichment and ancillary programs.
- Position may require more than 40 hours a week and often include evening and weekend activities.
- Attend all mandatory meetings, workshops, webinars, and other development and training meetings.
- Attend training seminars and conferences to maintain knowledge of current child care trends.
- Organize and supervises class parties and field trips.
- Report maintenance needs and safety issues as needed.
Physical Requirements
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, depth vision, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneed, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to use hands or fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms. The employee will frequently talk or hear.
