Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Tool Designer to join our engineering team focused on metal stamping operations. This role involves designing and developing progressive, compound, and transfer dies that support high-volume production. The ideal candidate will bring creativity, precision, and a strong understanding of tooling principles to help drive manufacturing excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop stamping dies and tooling using CAD software.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that tooling meets performance, quality, and safety standards.
- Create detailed 2D and 3D models, BOMs, and technical documentation for tool fabrication.
- Participate in design reviews, FMEA sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis for tooling-related production issues.
- Coordinate with vendors and internal machinists for tool builds and modifications.
- Maintain tooling documentation and revision control in accordance with company standards.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Die Design Expertise: Experience designing progressive, compound, and transfer dies for stamping applications.
- CAD Proficiency: Skilled in SolidWorks (preferred), AutoCAD, or similar platforms for 2D and 3D modeling.
- Simulation Tools: Familiarity with die simulation software to optimize designs.
- Manufacturing Knowledge: Understanding of press operations, die setup, and forming processes.
- Precision Measurement: Proficient with micrometers, calipers, and CMMs for validating tooling dimensions.
- Toolroom Experience: Exposure to CNC machining, wire EDM, and hands-on tool fabrication.
- Process Improvement: Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Kaizen methodologies.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
- Project Management: Ability to manage multiple tooling projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Material Selection: Familiarity with selecting materials for tooling based on durability, cost, and performance.
Schooling & Training
While formal education is not required, candidates are encouraged to have experience or coursework in one or more of the following areas:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in:
- Mechanical Engineering

- Precision Machining
Job Type: Full-time
Base Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
