Tool & Die Superintendent

RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Provide key input into the development of the Plant’s strategic business plan and identify and track key measurable to support plant business plan goals.
  • Develop and drive the development of departmental strategy goals and identify and track key measurable to support the department goals.
  • Provide direction and leadership consistent with plant business plan goals.
  • Responsible for tool and die department safety, quality, production and delivery objectives.
  • Track, monitor and implement required improvement activities related to business plan, goals, issues, etc.
  • Assist, as required, plant activities to achieve cost reductions goals.
  • Utilize teamwork to develop plant synergy.
  • Develop and manage die preventive maintenance schedules, manage spare part levels.
  • Drive department manning levels and utilization to assure compliance to budget.
  • Provide leadership and promote positive moral and ensure a total team concept.
  • Provide the proactive leadership necessary to achieve and maintain a continuous improvement mind set for the team.
  • Assure work orders are prioritized appropriately.
  • Direct, drive and participate in problem solving methods for related plant and customer issues.
  • Lead activities for any outside die work with vendors.
  • Drive and support plant activities towards achieving customer awards and quality registrations (ex. TS 16949, ISO 14001, etc.)
  • Assure all direct reports are aware of their Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) responsibilities and hold all direct reports accountable.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Science in Manufacturing, Engineering or Industrial Technology preferred. Master degree preferred.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience as a maintenance supervisor and/or Journeyman Tool & Die Maker preferred.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, stamping, and/or assembly processes as required for the position.

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Strong knowledge of TS 16949 and ISO 14001 regulations.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to read and write in English and perform mathematical calculations.
  • Demonstrated experience in applying lean manufacturing concepts.

PREFERRED ADDITIONAL SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Ability to mentor and teach the team in effective problem solving methods.
  • Proven leadership ability and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Experience as a training facilitator preferred.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities in a fast paced environment.

This full-time, salary role is a part of our Operations team and reports to the Tooling Manager.
