
- Wears all required safety equipment and ensures area and environment is safe
- Perform preventative maintenance as required
- Clean and organize area, keep area free of clutter and safety hazards – 6S
- Reads and interprets blueprints or works from verbal or written instructions or from the part to be copied or fitted
- Plans the setup and operation of all types of machine shop tools, considering types of material, tolerances, types of cutting tools, coolants, lubricants and machine tool feeds and speeds
- Heat-treats and welds parts as required
- Determines specifications for inspection of work, using precision measuring and gaging tools, performing required inspection before, during and after machining
- Performs hand operations involved in producing jigs, fixtures, tools and dies. Uses hand tools of the trade
- Fits and assembles jigs, fixtures, tools and dies. Sets up, runs off and tests dies to produce a product to specifications, tracing die difficulties to their source and correcting same
- Tear down, repairs and reassembles tooling on the bench or in the press as required
- Assists other tool room personnel with troubleshooting skills or ideas
- Assists Press Operators with troubleshooting tooling during production runs
- High degree of precision and control in work where damage could be high and where muscular control and delicate touch are required
- High degree of attention and care required, preventing injury to self and others when operating machine tools.
- Possess good troubleshooting skills
- Able to pull and set-up tooling
- Must have valid forklift operator’s license (or be willing to be trained before starting job assignment)
- Process hourly/daily paperwork as required
- Does in-press P.M.’s as scheduled
Required Experience
- Completion of formal apprenticeship program with journeyman card or similar experience
