Notes from the Manager - The best fit candidate will have issued out tools for a machine shop; they would entertain a machinist for this role who no longer wants to machine. Computer skills are critical. They will issue out pneumatic, hydraulic, welding tools, machining tools, ETC. Exp with Machining tooling is highly desired, client said he would entertain a machinist in this spot who no longer wants to machine.

The Tool Room Clerk plays a critical role in supporting daily operations by managing tooling inventory, issuing equipment, and maintaining accurate records in a fast-paced machine shop environment. This position ensures that machinists and technicians have timely access to calibrated tools and consumables, contributing to efficient production workflows and compliance with safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and organize tool room inventory, including cutting tools, gauges, fixtures, and consumables
• Issue and receive tools and equipment to/from shop personnel, ensuring proper documentation
• Track tool usage, wear, and calibration schedules using inventory management software or spreadsheets
• Inspect tools for damage or wear and coordinate repairs or replacements as needed
• Support procurement by notifying supervisors of low stock or special tool requests
• Label, store, and secure tools according to company safety and organizational standards
• Assist with cycle counts and audits to ensure inventory accuracy
• Collaborate with machinists and supervisors to anticipate tooling needs for upcoming jobs
• Maintain a clean, orderly, and hazard-free tool room environment

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or experience in a machine shop preferred
• Familiarity with machining tools and terminology (e.g., calipers, micrometers, end mills)
• Basic computer skills; experience with inventory systems or Excel a plus
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Pay: $20.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
