Key responsibilities
- Carry out routine inspection, preventive maintenance and repair of injection moulds (hot-runner, cold-runner, multi-cavity, family moulds).
- Diagnose mould problems (flashing, short shots, burns, flow marks) and perform corrective actions (polishing, gate rework, venting, insert replacement).
- Support mould setup, try-outs and first-article trials on injection moulding machines; collaborate with production/QA to optimize process parameters.
- Read, interpret and, when required, create technical drawings, BOMs and mould assembly sketches.
- Fabricate and modify mould components (cores, cavities, ejector pins, sleeves) using milling, grinding, EDM, drilling, lathe operations or coordinate with external vendors.
- Maintain tool-room equipment (EDM, CNC lathe/mill, hydraulic press, mould maintenance tools). Schedule preventive maintenance and coordinate repairs.
- Implement and document job cards, mould history, downtime logs and spare parts inventory. Recommend spares and maintain critical spares list.
- Train operators and technicians on mould handling, preventive checks and safe changeover procedures.
- Coordinate with design/engineering for DFMA suggestions to improve mouldability and reduce cycle time.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures and 5S in the tool-room.
