Toolroom and procurement Manager

Roles & Responsibilities

1.Procurement and vendor management

Develop and implement strategic procurement plans for all machine shop consumables, tooling, and materials to ensure a consistent and cost-effective supply and Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with vendors to secure the best possible value for the company.

2.Tools store and inventory management

Manage all tool room operations, including the check-in and check-out of tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures. Implement and maintain an organized inventory control system to track stock levels and movement of all tools, cutting oil and raw materials.

3. Operations and quality control

a) Ensure Safety, Hygiene, Quality, 5S and 4M audits are conducted on the shop floor as

per decided frequency.

b) Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as tooling costs, procurement time, and supplier performance, and report findings to senior management.

c) Work closely with production team to identify tooling needs, troubleshoot technical issues, and provide solutions that improve efficiency and productivity.

d) Oversee preventive maintenance and calibration schedules for tool setting and resharpening equipment.

Leadership and administration

Supervise and mentor tool room staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations. Prepare and manage the departmental budget, controlling expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities.

Functional/Technical:
1. Good Technical and Process Knowledge of Special Cutting Tools cutting characteristics.

2. Hands on experience of CNC Grinding machines (Cutting Tool Resharpening) and having good CNC Programming knowledge.

3. Hands on experience of Zoller machines, VMC, HMC & SPM.

4. Good knowledge of Cutting Tool Inventory management and Maintain accurate procurement and inventory records, reports, and other documentation for reference and auditing.

5. Hands on experience of ERP/SAP system for Purchase Order /RGP/challan preparation.

6. Good knowledge of Cutting tools presetting on Zoller machine.

7. Knowledge of Cutting tool wear, damage and troubleshooting.

8. Good knowledge of Raw material & child parts Inventory management.

9. Knowledge of ISO Systems like ISO9001/14001/45001

10. Knowledge of 4M and 5Why analysis to resolve quality issues of line.

11. Co-ordinate with tool supplier for tool related issue.
