TOR for Irrigation Engineer

To maintain irrigation networks, tanks and pumping stations.

Responsibilities

Read and understand drawings or plan the layout of irrigation network. Cut, assemble and install pipes and drip tubes with attention to existing infrastructure (e.g. electrical wiring)

Repair issues of drip lines in experimental sites (e.g. leaks) Installation of water pumps.

Cleaning of existing water storage tanks (ZincAlum, GRP and Plastic) Flushing and cleaning of irrigation lines.

Collection of flowmeters reading Qualifications and Experience Essential Minimum 2 years of proven experience as a plumber.

Solid understanding of automatic irrigation systems. Ability to handle plumbing tools and equipment (pipe wrenches, pipe cutters, plungers etc.)

Good physical condition and strength with the ability to work in hard weather conditions. Good background in agronomy, especially in soil-water-plant relationships and their impact on soil salinity and crops

Good knowledge of soil and water salinity interactions Good knowledge of calculations of crop water requirements using standard methods

Ability to perform tasks independently with little supervision.
