Towing Dispatcher

Duties

• Receive and prioritize incoming towing requests via multi-line phone systems, online platforms, and radio communications.
• Utilize GPS, GIS (Geographic Information Systems), and transportation management systems like Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine to locate vehicles and optimize dispatch routes.
• Coordinate with drivers, service providers, and third-party logistics (3PL) partners to assign towing jobs efficiently while maintaining clear communication through phone etiquette and professional interaction.
• Monitor fleet management systems to track vehicle status, update job progress, and ensure timely completion of tasks.
• Maintain accurate data entry in transportation management systems and AS400 databases for dispatch records, shipping & receiving logs, and incident reports.
• Analyze operational data to improve dispatch efficiency, reduce wait times, and enhance overall logistics performance.
• Provide exceptional customer service by effectively communicating with clients regarding service updates and estimated arrival times.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with dispatching in transportation or logistics environments; familiarity with freight movement is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of GPS technology, GIS tools, transportation planning, and supply chain principles.
• Proficiency in transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or SyteLine.
• Excellent analysis skills for route optimization and operational troubleshooting.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems professionally while demonstrating strong phone etiquette.
• Adept at data entry with high accuracy using systems like AS400 and other enterprise resource planning (ERP) platforms.
• Familiarity with fleet management software, shipping & receiving procedures, and 3PL coordination is preferred.
