The Traffic Engineer is responsible for managing all traffic-related design submissions and securing approvals from the concerned authorities. The role ensures that all approved traffic management drawings and plans are accurately implemented on site in compliance with project specifications, authority regulations, and safety standards. The position also involves continuous follow-up with authorities and project teams to expedite approvals and maintain smooth progress.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with relevant authorities (RTA, Police, Municipality, etc.) for submission and approval of traffic management plans, diversion layouts, and related drawings.
- Prepare, review, and update traffic control and diversion drawings as required for authority approval.
- Ensure all approved traffic management plans are implemented correctly and safely on site.
- Conduct regular follow-ups with authorities to monitor submission status and expedite pending approvals.
- Liaise closely with the design and construction teams to ensure approved drawings are executed accurately in the field.
- Maintain proper documentation and tracking of all submissions, approvals, and authority correspondences.
- Attend meetings with authorities and project stakeholders to discuss approval requirements, comments, and implementation status.
- Identify and resolve potential traffic management issues in coordination with the site team and authorities.
- Ensure all temporary traffic arrangements meet safety standards and are properly maintained throughout the project.
- Support in revising and re-submitting drawings in response to authority comments or changes in site conditions.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering.
- Minimum 5–10 years of relevant experience as a Traffic Engineer in infrastructure or road projects within the UAE.
- Strong knowledge of UAE traffic regulations and authority approval processes (RTA, Police, Municipality, etc.).
- Proven experience in Traffic Diversion Plans (TDPs) and Traffic Management Plans (TMPs) preparation and approval.
- Excellent coordination, follow-up, and communication skills with authorities and internal teams.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and other relevant design software.
- Valid UAE Driving License required.
