Trainee Accountant

About the Role

We are looking for an ambitious and motivated Trainee Accountant to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional to gain practical experience in accounting and finance within the UK market. You will support day-to-day finance operations, assist with statutory requirements, and work closely with senior accountants while studying towards professional qualifications (ACCA/ACA/CIMA).

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with bookkeeping and preparation of accounts.
• Support in preparing VAT returns and other HMRC submissions.
• Reconcile bank accounts, supplier statements, and client ledgers.
• Assist in payroll processing and related compliance.
• Prepare simple financial reports under supervision.
• Maintain accurate financial records and filing systems.
• Support senior accountants during audits and year-end reporting.
• Carry out ad-hoc tasks as required by the finance team.

Requirements

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related subject (or AAT/part-qualified ACCA/ACA).
• 0–1 year of accounting/finance experience (internships or placement year accepted).
• Basic knowledge of UK accounting principles, VAT, and tax regulations (preferred).
• Good IT skills, including MS Excel; familiarity with accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage) is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to learn and work towards professional qualifications.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
