Job Title- Trainee Cost Manager

Location- Mumbai


Job Description:

• Assist in preparing cost estimates, bills of quantities (BOQs), and tender documents for construction projects.

• Support in analyzing project costs, budgets, and schedules to ensure alignment with client requirements.

• Conduct on-site measurements and inspections to verify progress and compliance with specifications.

• Collaborate with senior quantity surveyors to evaluate contractor claims, variations, and valuations.

• Ensure proper documentation is in place, especially with respect to Drawing Register Maintenance.

• Have an insatiable hunger to learn and understand existent practices to enhance skills quickly.

• Read and understand construction drawings and drawing plans.


Roles and responsibilities:

Quantity Take-off using AutoCAD:

  • Verify that the drawing layers, scales, and dimensions are appropriately defined.
  • Understand the scope of work by reviewing floor plans, sections, and elevations.
  • Identify the elements to be measured, such as walls, slabs, columns, and beams.
  • Turn on/off relevant layers to isolate specific components for measurement.
  • Utilize the MEASUREGEOM command to calculate lengths, areas, and volumes.
  • For irregular shapes, use the Boundary (BO) or Polyline (PL) tools to define and measure areas.
  • Measure linear features such as walls, beams, and pipes using the Distance (DI) or Polyline Length commands.
  • Export the measured areas for further processing in quantity schedules.
  • For 3D drawings, use 3D Solids or extract volumes from objects like slabs and footings with the Mass Properties command.
  • Add dimensions, notes, and labels to clarify measurements and facilitate cross-referencing.
  • Use blocks or dynamic text for consistent labeling.
  • Use the Data Extraction feature to export measured quantities (e.g., lengths, areas, volumes) into a spreadsheet.
  • Organize the extracted data by material, component type, or location for easier analysis.
  • Compare AutoCAD take-off results with manual calculations or BIM models (if available) to ensure accuracy.
  • Perform spot checks on complex or critical measurements.
  • Finalize the quantity requirements and share for verification with competent authority.
  • Document Management


Qualifications:

  • Education - B.E/B.Tech- Civil/ Mechanical / Electrical
  • 0-1 year of work experience
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
