Position Summary

Head Injury Association is seeking a dynamic and engaging Agency Trainer to support the professional development of our Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) and staff. This position reports directly to the Assistant Director of Training and works in close collaboration to ensure regulatory compliance with OPWDD and DOH standards while strengthening staff competence and quality of care.

The Agency Trainer plans, coordinates, and delivers required training programs, maintains accurate training documentation, and promotes best practices aligned with our mission and HCBS/TBI Waiver guidelines. This role also provides direct operational support to the Assistant Director of Training in maintaining training compliance and advancing department initiatives.

The ideal candidate is organized, knowledgeable, and passionate about developing others.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver required agency trainings, including: New Employee Orientation, Annual and refresher trainings, SCIP-R, First Aid/CPR/AED, Safe Patient Handling, Service-specific and compliance trainings
  • Support the Assistant Director of Training in coordinating and implementing the agency’s annual training plan
  • Maintain accurate training records within HRIS and personnel files
  • Provide monthly training compliance updates to supervisors
  • Notify and follow up with supervisors regarding training completion gaps
  • Train employees on agency policies and procedures to ensure adherence to OPWDD and DOH regulations
  • Maintain current instructor certifications (SCIP-R, First Aid/CPR/AED, etc.) and pursue additional certifications as required
  • Assist the Assistant Director of Training with audits, surveys, and quality assurance reviews
  • Support department initiatives and agency goals as assigned

Qualifications

  • Associate’s in Human Services, Education, Psychology, or related field preferred
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD), preferably within an OPWDD-regulated setting
  • Strong understanding of OPWDD regulations and training requirements
  • Prior experience as a trainer, facilitator, or DSP supervisor strongly preferred
  • Certified (or willing to become certified) in SCIP-R, First Aid/CPR/AED, and/or AMAP
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills with the ability to engage adult learners
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

Compensation & Schedule

  • Salary: $45,000 - 60,000 annually
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
