Lincoln Regional Center (LRC) is a Joint Commission–accredited state psychiatric hospital operated by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services. Position Summary
Under general supervision, the Training Specialist supports hospital operations by designing, developing, and delivering effective training programs. This role applies general to advanced instructional skills, adult learning principles, and innovative training methods to meet organizational learning needs. Assignments may include reviewing literature, statutes, rules, and policies relevant to hospital operations. Independent judgment is exercised within assigned program topics or areas of responsibility.

Essential Job Duties
- Utilize best practices in adult learning to deliver training across a variety of subject areas, some of which may require instructor certification or relate to hospital-specific needs.
- Serve as a professional resource to employees and managers regarding training programs and courses delivered.
- Research, develop, schedule, and implement new training programs to meet identified hospital objectives.
- Plan and deliver interactive, engaging training in classroom, web-based, e-learning, and on-unit environments.
- Modify and update existing course curricula to ensure accuracy, effectiveness, and relevance.
- Collaborate with leadership and subject matter experts to assess training needs and evaluate training effectiveness.
Interview Requirement
Applicants selected for an interview will be required to deliver a 5–10 minute presentation on a subject of their choice as part of the interview process.
Requirements/Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Two years’ experience and/or training in planning and presenting information and/or education to others through formal training, workshops, seminars, or other instructional venues including experience developing training programs or curriculum. Associates degree in education, human resources, organization communication, training and development or related field may be substituted for experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPR certification (current or ability to obtain upon hire)
- Experience developing training programs and curriculum
- Experience working with individuals with mental illness or similar populations
Other:
- Must be at least 19 years of age
- Valid driver’s license
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Knowledge
- Knowledge of advanced instructional design models and adult learning strategies
- Knowledge of behavioral health, mental health illness, or healthcare-related training environments
- Knowledge of hospital operations, regulatory requirements, and compliance-driven training
- Knowledge of learning management systems (LMS) and e-learning platforms
Skills
- Skill in developing comprehensive training programs and curricula from concept to implementation
- Skill in modifying and improving existing training based on evaluation data and organizational needs
- Skill in facilitating interactive, scenario-based, or certification-required training
- Skill in presenting complex or sensitive subject matter in an accessible manner
- Skill in evaluating training effectiveness and using data to improve outcomes
Abilities
- Ability to assess organizational or departmental training gaps and recommend solutions
- Ability to adapt training strategies for diverse learning styles and high-stress environments
- Ability to serve as a professional training resource for employees and managers
- Ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams and leadership
Ability to support training initiatives related to mental health or similar populations
