Monaghan Leahy, LLP, a well-established, full-service law firm in Portland, Maine, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Transactional Associate Attorney with 3–5 years of experience to join its growing transactional practice.

This position offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of commercial matters, including banking and commercial finance, real estate transactions, business formation, commercial contracts, as well as occasional estate planning and probate matters. The practice serves clients across diverse industries and involves direct client interaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise clients on business formation, governance, and general corporate matters
  • Draft, negotiate, and close commercial and financing transactions for borrowers and lenders
  • Oversee real estate and commercial transactions for buyers, sellers, and lenders
  • Draft and negotiate commercial contracts and related transactional documents
  • Manage a portfolio of client matters independently while collaborating with firm colleagues

Qualifications & Skills

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the Maine Bar (or eligibility for prompt admission)
  • Minimum of 3 years of transactional or business law experience
  • Experience with business entities, contracts, real estate, and commercial transactions
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills with close attention to detail
  • Ability to manage matters independently while working effectively as part of a team
