Transit Coordinator

Available Schedules:

• Vacant #1: Monday/Sunday: 9:00 am to 6:00 pm; Wednesday: 7:30 am to 4:30 pm; Thursday/Friday: 1:00 pm to 10:00 pm; Tuesday/Saturday: off.
• Vacant #2: Monday/Thursday: 9:00 am to 6:00 pm; Wednesday/Friday: 11:00 am to 8:00 pm; Saturday: 1:00 pm to 10:00 pm; Sunday/Tuesday: off.

General Function:

This position reports to the Transit Coordinator Supervisor and supports the transit operations in the following areas; fare reconciliation, reservations, customer care, scheduling, and dispatch department staff in all areas of the unit.

Accountability:

This position reports to the Transit Coordinator Supervisor and works collaboratively with all staff assigned to the District.

Position Requirements:

• Demonstrate knowledge, understanding and compliance with company procedures and guidelines.
• Provide appropriate and accurate information to customers, drivers and other transit coordinators.
• Monitor transit software to ensure routes are operating and on-time.
• Reserve, schedule, communicate with customers as needed, and dispatch drivers to various locations.
• Able to communicate courteously and effectively both orally and in writing.
• Assist customers on the phone in a professional manner. Assure compliance with all ADA rules and regulations.
• Ability to maintain composure in handling emergencies and other unexpected situations.
• Train in all transit operation functions.
• Handle heavy call volume and two-way radio traffic.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Transit Coordinator Supervisor.

Requirements:

• Must maintain a respectful working relationship with all GNHTD employees and treat all employees, vendors, and customers in a professional manner.
• Must be a problem solver, and able to make adjustments.
• Ability to remain calm while addressing emergency situations.
• Be able to communicate professionally with people at all levels of the organization and external contacts.
• One (1) year of Dispatch and/or Customer Service experience in the transportation field preferred, or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides a demonstrated potential for performing the duties of this position.
• Must have effective written and oral communication skills.
• Must have experience in using computer and computer software, transit/scheduling software a plus.
• Must have experience with phones, email, and Microsoft office software.
• Flexible to work any days and shifts a plus, including emergencies, weekends and holidays.
• Fluent in Spanish is a plus.

Experience:

• Dispatch experience in the transportation field: 1 year (Preferred)
• Customer Service experience in the transportation field: 1 year (Preferred)
