Transport Primary Fleet Supervisor

  • JOB PURPOSE:

To supervise the transportation operations of the primary fleet within the logistics department, this role involves overseeing the daily activities of drivers, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, optimizing delivery schedules, and maintaining efficient communication with internal and external stakeholders.

  • KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Core Accountabilities

  • Supervise and provide leadership to a team within the primary fleet, including assigning tasks, setting priorities, and monitoring performance.
  • Collaborate with the “Manager - Primary Fleet” to develop and implement operational plans, policies, and procedures for the transportation of goods.
  • Ensure the timely and safe delivery of goods by optimizing delivery schedules, coordinating routes, and monitoring driver performance.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with transportation laws, safety regulations, and company policies related to driver qualifications, vehicle maintenance, and load securement.
  • Conduct regular inspections of vehicles to ensure roadworthiness and compliance with maintenance standards.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, to ensure accurate and timely order fulfilment and delivery.
  • Maintain effective communication with drivers, providing clear instructions, addressing concerns, and facilitating efficient communication between drivers and other team members.
  • Monitor driver performance, including adherence to schedules, compliance with regulations, and customer service, and provide constructive feedback and coaching as needed.
  • Manage driver schedules, time off requests, and workload distribution to ensure optimal resource allocation and efficient operations.
  • Collaborate with the Manager in implementing driver training programs, including safety training.
  • Monitor and control transportation costs, including fuel consumption, maintenance expenses, and driver-related expenditures, ensuring adherence to budgetary targets.
  • Track and monitor delivery status, analyse, and generate reports.
  • Address any operational issues or delays that may arise during transportation, working proactively to find solutions and minimize disruptions.
  • Foster a culture of safety, professionalism, and teamwork, emphasizing compliance with regulations and company policies.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, including those related to safety, quality, and compliance.

Policies, System, Processes and Procedures

  • Manage the development and implementation of the Engineering policies, systems, processes and procedures, identifying potential areas for improvement, to ensure efficient and effective operation.
  • Compliance Adherance: Ensure Employees understand and follow Nadec’s compliance policies and legal obligations, act with integrity, report any violations, participate in training, and support audits or investigations to ensure ethical and compliant operations.

Change Management

  • Motivate the employees and contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices considering best practices.
  • Ensure that all departmental reports and statements are completed timely and comply with local and international principles of governance and the organization's policies and standards.

  • JOB CONTEXT

Supervisor - Transport (Primary Fleet), will work in the assigned areas and might have to travel as and when needed.

  • QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

Education and Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • MBA or Masters in a related field (Preferred)

Experience:

2-3 years of experience in transportation operations, with a focus on supervising drivers and coordinating delivery activities.

Skills:

  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve operational issues and implement process improvements.
