Transportation Engineer 1 (TE1) or Transportation Engineer 2 (TE2), PN 20050959

The selected candidate will be placed in the classification in which they meet minimum qualifications.

Transportation Engineer 1 or Transportation Engineer 2 hire will complete ODOT’s Transportation Civil Engineering Program to include a 12-month training plan & scheduled rotation through the department’s core engineering disciplines: Planning & Engineering, Construction and Highway Maintenance.

  • You will work along side of ODOT professional engineers.
  • You will receive hands-on transportation training & experience needed to further your career as an engineer with ODOT.

Qualifications

Transportation Engineer 1:

Bachelor's degree in engineering; Accepted for Basic Fundamentals of Engineering Examination (EIT exam) by Ohio Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors.

Transportation Engineer 2:

Valid certificate as Engineer-In-Training issued or accepted as equivalent by Ohio Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors; 12 mos. exp. as Transportation Engineer 1, 85641.

  • Or Bachelor's degree in engineering; valid certificate as Engineer-In-Training issued or accepted as equivalent by Ohio Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors; 2 yrs. engineering related experience.
  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience required, but not for the mandated registration.
Supplemental Information

This position is overtime eligible based on FLSA Standards.

All bargaining unit new hires must serve a one (1) year probationary period.

Position will be filled pursuant to the provision of the OCSEA/AFSCME Contract.

The final candidate selected for this position will be required to undergo a criminal background check. An individual assessment of an applicant's prior criminal convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration.
