• Appointment to Range D requires possession of a valid certificate of registration as a civil engineer issued by the California Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists.

• Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a State owned or leased vehicle.

• Failure to include and complete the SOQ as instructed may not be considered and may result in disqualification for the interview.
• Resumes and cover letters will not take the place of the SOQ.
• The SOQ must follow the number format, must respond to the criteria below, must not exceed two pages in length, and be typed in size 12-point Arial font.

• Describe how your education, knowledge, skills, and experience have prepared you to successfully coordinate safety projects from initiation to completion. Provide specific examples of where you applied engineering principles.
• Demonstrate your experience of applying engineering technical skills for project development and include your proficiency with engineering and computer programs such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, Microsoft Office Suite, and databases or tools.
• Demonstrate your experience and communication skills with team members, partners, customers, and external stakeholders. Include examples of written (e.g., reports, memos, correspondence) and verbal communication (e.g., in-person, virtual, presentations).
• Demonstrate how you used your analytical abilities to prioritize multiple projects, manage competing deadlines, and ensure your ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrate your ability to work as an active team member and ability to maintain cordial and cooperative working relationships at all corporate levels, including internal and external stakeholders.
