By joining our Department of Highways/Office of Project Delivery & Preservation /Division of Maintenance/Operation & Pavement as a Transportation Engineer Specialist in Franklin County, you’ll have the opportunity to analyze data from various sources to evaluate maintenance performance, pavement performance, and treatment selection.
Holders of the Transportation Engineer Specialist position will complete tasks such as:
- Combine data from multiple sources to improve the budget decisions for maintenance spending.
- Review and analyze data to enhance pavement management project selection.
- Conduct inspections of pavement projects to assess performance and recommend treatment options.
- Review awarded contract records and ensure construction history for pavement segments and material data are accurately reflected in PMS
Holders of this job will obtain the following skills:
- Ability to read construction contracts and extract pavement work.
- Ability to analyze data from several sources, combine into meaningful datasets, and use to predict or report performance.
- Use of geospatial analysis to predict trends and visualize data.
- Use of pavement management system to create pavement work plans.
Desired candidates possess the following requisite skills or experience applicable to the position:
- Ability to evaluate pavement projects to identify and classify distresses.
- Knowledge of asset management and ability to optimize asset maintenance for best performance.
- Assess maintenance needs and perform budget analysis.
- Proficiency in data analytics software.
Some overnight travel is required, though most work is done in office setting.
