Job Description
Schedule: Sun-Thurs, 8am to 5pm
Salary - Starting at 100k + Bonus
Managing 40+ Class-A Drivers, 5 Class B Drivers, and Yard Drivers
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Manage and coordinate the Delivery and Service department, including formulating policies, programs, and procedures for schedules, rates, routes, backhauls, and assignment of drivers and vehicles.

Build and maintain positive customer relationships, manage customer service complaints, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and company policies, local laws, and transportation regulations.

Lead the D&S team by recruiting, hiring, training, and developing team members. Conduct performance appraisals, manage turnover, and resolve employee relations issues.

Prepare and manage the annual D&S department budget, approve payroll, and identify cost-saving opportunities through route analysis and scheduling optimization.

Ensure DOT compliance by managing driver schedules, monitoring hours of service, maintaining driver qualification files, and overseeing random drug testing.

Conduct route observations to ensure drivers perform their duties safely and in accordance with company and DOT standards.

Generate and analyze D&S-related reports, including backhauls and weekly key indicator summaries.

Manage fleet image and maintenance, including auditing and approving invoices from the leasing company.

Participate in Leadership & Development training sessions and provide ongoing operational and technical training for team leaders from other facilities.

Investigate and document all accidents/injuries to determine preventability and implement safety measures.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager and/or Director, including supporting the 24-hour operation as needed.
Qualifications-
Bachelor's degree in distribution, logistics, retail, or transportation is required. For level 2, 3 & 4 facilities, equivalent work experience in the food, manufacturing, or retail industry may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Extensive experience is crucial: 5-10 years in Transportation with a demonstrable track record in logistics is mandatory.

Proven leadership abilities are essential: Minimum 5-7 years of supervisory experience with a demonstrated capacity to develop and guide team members in achieving organizational goals and objectives.

Strong communication skills are imperative: Must possess the ability to effectively convey information and address inquiries from diverse groups including managers, customers, vendors, and team members.

Continuous improvement mindset is required: Proficiency in utilizing 5S and Kaizen methodologies.

Financial acumen is critical: Comprehensive understanding of financial statements, P&L, EBITDA, and their cost implications.

Regulatory compliance is non-negotiable: Thorough working knowledge of Department of Transportation rules and regulations.

Results-oriented approach is mandatory: Must demonstrate strong organizational and decision-making skills.

Technical proficiency is essential: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software.

Flexibility is a key requirement: Must be able to work a full-time, flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Travel readiness is necessary: Must be available for business travel as required.

24-hour operational support is expected: Willingness to carry an emergency cell phone as needed.

Background verification is mandatory: Must successfully pass background checks every third year on the anniversary date.

Commercial Driver's License Class A is highly advantageous.

Physical Requirements:

Endurance is essential: Must be capable of standing/walking for up to 10-12 hours.

Mobility is critical: Must be able to navigate warehouse environments frequently, including facilities over a quarter mile in length.

Versatility is required: Must be able to access all areas of the building, including ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and gangways safely and without limitation.

Physical dexterity is necessary: Regular bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching both below the waist and above the head.

Strength is important: Must be able to lift and move totes up to 49 pounds each.

Environmental adaptability is crucial: Must be able to work in extreme temperatures (33-38 degrees) and in environments with exposure to loud machinery.
