Position Summary

The Transportation Supervisor supervises and coordinates the activities of the Truck Drivers. This includes dispatching and scheduling routes, ensuring compliance with DOT and all other regulations, and coordinating service and maintenance of trucks and trailers. The ideal candidate will ensure that productivity and operational goals are met in order to deliver exceptional customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Perform daily dispatching and related activities; coordinate trip assignments, monitor truck driver’s operation adherence for delivery times
• Maintain all transportation records, including time records, shipping and packing slips
• Respond and assist truck drivers with any issues, and follow appropriate protocols
• Develop business relationships with various service providers to ensure timely repairs and maintenance of trucks and trailers
• Review driver logs and other DOT requirements to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations
• Ensure accurate completion of all delivery and driver-related paperwork
• Ensure reporting of maintenance for trucks, tractors and trailers through detailed review of post-trip inspections
• Proactively work with all departments to identify deliveries at risk of not meeting schedules
• Oversee and monitor performance of Truck Drivers
• Other duties assigned

Qualifications and Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma/GED required
• 3 years’ experience in a transportation supervisory role
• 2 years’ experience as a dispatcher
• Valid CDL Class A license preferred

Work Environment and Physical Demands

The following environment/atmospheric working conditions are commonly, but not always, associated with the performance of this position.

This position operates in a manufacturing shop environment. Exposure to noise, chemicals, extreme temperatures, and materials consistent with a manufacturing environment are constant. Must be able to lift materials up to 50lbs., and make deliveries as needed.
