Transportation Trip/Charter Liaison
The Hunterdon County Educational Services Commission is seeking a dedicated Trip/Charter Liaison to join our Transportation Office. This is a part-time, 10-month position responsible for coordinating and managing the scheduling of daily trips and charter services across member school districts. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills, transportation expertise, and a commitment to safe, efficient, and equitable student transportation operations.
Pay: $20 per hour (up to 15 hours per week)

QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid New Jersey Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with School Bus (S) and Passenger (P) endorsements
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in school transportation (preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to manage the scheduling of trips/charters and ensure fair, equitable driver assignments
- Knowledgeable in New Jersey Department of Education regulations and Commission policies preferred
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills
- Proficiency in transportation software, GPS platforms, and standard office applications
- Ability to remain calm and composed in emergency or high-pressure situations
- Satisfactory criminal history background check required
- Proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status required
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate extracurricular and charter bus needs for member school districts in a timely and organized manner
- Assign trips and charters to drivers based on operational needs, staffing availability, seniority, and equitable hour distribution
- Identify and coordinate substitute drivers to ensure seamless coverage and maintain service continuity
- Collaborate with member districts to ensure transportation services are delivered efficiently and in accordance with established policies
- Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers and school officials regarding trip and charter inquiries, scheduling updates, and operational concerns
- Conduct pre-trip briefings with assigned drivers, when needed regarding route navigation, and any special instructions
- Monitor GPS systems and radio communications; respond promptly to phone calls and emails during operational hours
- Respond professionally and efficiently to inquiries from district staff, administrators, and other stakeholders
- Immediately report and/or complete proper paperwork / incident logs following breakdowns, accidents, or emergencies; communicate relevant information calmly and promptly to appropriate personnel
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of all trip and charter assignments, driver schedules, and related documentation
- Uphold strict confidentiality regarding driver information, district communications, and operational data
- Collaborate with Transportation Office staff to streamline and create efficiencies
- Support the development and implementation of best practices in trip coordination and driver assignment workflows
- Other duties as assigned
