Overview:
The Transportation Yard Specialist plays a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of yard and fleet activities. This position is primarily responsible for auditing truck drivers at departure and return, verifying that all required equipment is properly issued before leaving for routes and returned upon arrival. The specialist will also ensure that yard operations remain organized and efficient by coordinating truck movements, assisting with workflow, and maintaining clear communication with drivers and management.
Responsibilities:
- Audit departing drivers to confirm all required equipment is issued and documented prior to route departure.
- Audit returning drivers to verify that all equipment is accounted for and properly returned.
- Maintain organized records of equipment check-outs and returns.
- Assist in managing yard operations, including moving and positioning trucks to support an efficient workflow.
- Monitor and coordinate truck traffic flow within the yard to prevent delays and maintain safety standards.
- Collaborate with dispatch, fleet management, and other departments to ensure timely departures and returns.
- Identify and report any equipment shortages, damages, or compliance issues.
- Support overall yard safety and compliance practices.
Requirements:
- Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Must be reliable, punctual, and flexible, with the ability to work various shifts (including nights, weekends, and holidays).

Must be able to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time during shifts.

English proficiency, Spanish a plus.

Experience in transportation, logistics, or yard operations preferred.

Ability to safely operate and maneuver vehicles within the yard.

Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

1-2 years of related experience.

Experience in auditing processes or equipment control preferred.
Work Environment:

5 or 6 days a week in the Facility.

Ability to bend and lift heavy items, 40-50 lbs.

Ability to work in both cold and hot environments.

Ability to work or stand for extended hours as needed.

Ability to work weekends and holidays as needed.

Ability to climb in and out of truck cabs as needed.
