Trauma Therapist (child abuse victims)

Job Description:

The Gulf Coast Children's Advocacy Center's Trauma Therapy Treatment Team (T4) provides specialized treatment to child victims of child abuse and adult victims of child sexual abuse and sexual assault. Individual and group therapy is available to victims, siblings, and non-offending caretakers. T4 utilizes empirically supported treatment, as clinically indicated, to assist in recovering from abuse, to prevent children’s developmental impairment because of the abuse, and to promote healthy, non-abusive relationships. This position is primarily focused on children, but there may be circumstances in which an adult client is scheduled with our therapists.

Qualifications :

A Masters degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology or other behavioral science (license required or working toward licensure). At least one year of clinical counseling experience working directly with children.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Interview child victims, adult survivors, family members and significant others as needed to obtain biopsychosocial information for clinical evaluations.
  • Provide individual and group therapeutic services for child victims of sexual abuse, physical abuse, and other identified traumas.
  • Provide therapy to adult survivors of sexual assault or child sexual abuse.
  • Provide therapy to non-offending caregivers of children impacted by sexual abuse.
  • Develop behaviorally specific treatment plans for all family members involved in the program.
  • Provide crisis intervention services when necessary.
  • Complete safety planning to prevent continued or future abuse.
  • Monitor attendance, participation and progress of family members in treatment.
  • Coordinate client services and referrals to community agencies.
  • Attend multidisciplinary staffings, if applicable.
  • Maintain client records, including the tracking of treatment goals and objectives.
  • Complete closing summaries on all clients terminated from the program.
  • Maintain six hours of child abuse training and two hours of sexual abuse training annually and report training in a timely manner to the designated Program Supervisor.

Pay = $52,500.00 Master Level Therapist

Pay = $63,000.00 Licensed Therapist in Florida

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.24 - $30.29 per hour
