Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist with prior travel experience and 2–5 years of critical care experience for a 13-week night shift contract at a Level II Trauma acute care facility in Redding, CA.

Details

  • Acute care setting at a 267-bed Level II Trauma facility
  • Covers ICU and all Med/Surg and Telemetry areas; floats to all areas except NICU
  • Common patient diagnoses include COPD, asthma, pneumonia, and CHF
  • Common procedures include breathing treatments, ABGs, EKGs, NIV, HFNC therapy, IPV, and PEP/PAP therapy
  • Ventilators used: Hamilton, G5, C1, MR1, and Galileo
  • Telemetry system: GE
  • EMR: Cerner
  • 12-hour night shifts, 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM
  • Every other weekend required
  • Schedules are made 3–4 weeks in advance; block scheduling cannot be accommodated
  • Most holidays are expected to be worked
  • Charge RT on duty 24/7; hospitalist in-house 24/7

Requirements

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required; CRT will not be accepted
  • Minimum 2–5 years of critical care experience in Respiratory Therapy
  • Prior travel assignment experience required
  • Experience with Respiratory Therapy Driven Protocols required; this facility is strictly protocol-driven
  • Active CA state license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
  • Required certifications (active, no pending): ACLS, BLS, NRP, PALS
  • NPS certification required for NICU assignments
  • COVID vaccination required
  • Cerner EMR experience
  • Driver's license required for consideration
  • 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
  • License required if applicable

Additional Information

  • This facility operates on a strictly protocol-driven model; experience with Respiratory Therapy Driven Protocols is essential
  • RT department staffed 24/7; pharmacy staffed 24/7
  • Charge RT available on all shifts
  • Orientation consists of 2 days of floor-specific training
  • Black scrubs required
  • Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates employed PRN through outside firms will be considered
