American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist with 2+ years of experience for a 26-week hospital assignment in a remote area of Alaska, providing full-scope cardiopulmonary services to patients of all ages.

Full scope of respiratory therapy services including critical and general care

32-hour work week

Orientation takes place on Tuesday and Wednesday

Associate's degree from an AMA-accredited Respiratory Therapy program approved by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)

Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in respiratory therapy

Active NBRC credentials: RRT or CRT required

Current certifications required: BLS/BCLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP

License required if applicable

Date of birth (DOB) and Social Security Number (SSN) required for consideration

Responsibilities include airway management, ventilator operation and management, intubation assist, ABG procurement and analysis, chest physiotherapy, patient suctioning, RSV and AFB sample procurement, PFT testing, and CPR

Equipment used includes adult, pediatric, and infant ventilators, bag-valve masks, pulse oximeters, suction equipment, O2 cylinders and concentrators, nebulizers, pulmonary function equipment, treadmill/stress testing equipment, EKG machines, Holter and event monitors, and iSTAT arterial blood gas analyzers

Candidates must arrive with documentation of required JC competencies, including IV/central line site care, fall precautions, age-specific competencies, abuse/neglect, pain management, blood transfusions, restraints and seclusion, and BLS current for the duration of the assignment

A medication calculation math test for adult and pediatric dosing is required upon arrival and before beginning clinical duties

This position is located in a remote area of Alaska; hospital housing is available and is the best option given the location

Hospital housing consists of shared units with shared common spaces and private bedrooms; male- or female-only units; no dogs allowed; travelers coordinate housing directly with the facility

The facility will reimburse economy-level flights to and from the assignment; detailed flight and luggage receipts must be submitted to American Traveler for reimbursement processing

Flight itinerary information must be provided one week prior to the start date; the facility will assist with airport pickup upon arrival but does not provide return airport transportation
