American Traveler is seeking a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) for a night shift travel assignment in a hospital respiratory therapy department in Paducah, KY.
-
Hospital-based respiratory therapy department providing direct patient care
-
Handles a broad patient population including critical/emergent, general care, and neonatal cases
-
Performs invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation, medicated and non-medicated therapies, airway management, arterial puncture, blood gas analysis, oximetry monitoring, medical gas administration, and pulmonary function and other diagnostic tests

Night shift: 3x12, 17:30–06:00

36 hours per week

Associate's Degree in Respiratory Care required; Bachelor's Degree preferred

Mandatory Kentucky Board of Respiratory Care certification OR Kentucky Professional Licensing Agency respiratory license appropriate for the facility location — license required if applicable

Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)

Current BLS and ACLS certifications required

PALS required (except for candidates in Pulmonary Function Testing as determined by hiring manager)

NRP required for candidates working with the neonatal population (not required for PFT candidates as determined by hiring manager)

MM/DD of date of birth and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration

NURSYS verification and copy of license required for consideration, if applicable

Copies of certifications required for consideration

Responds to emergency situations throughout the facility including code blue and rapid response events
-
Provides respiratory support in high-risk delivery situations, including care of compromised newborns
-
Performs and/or assists with advanced specialty procedures such as endotracheal tube insertion, arterial line placement, and bronchoscopy
-
Completes pulmonary function testing, neurodiagnostic studies (e.g., EEG), and cardiac testing (e.g., 12-lead ECG, Holter monitoring) as a specially trained and competent therapist

Documents patient assessments, therapies, and other pertinent information in the medical record
-
Provides education on respiratory therapy, disease management, and medications to patients, families, peers, and students
-
Participates in quality improvement projects, departmental meetings, huddle boards, and in-services
-
Responsible for cleaning, preparing, and ensuring proper functioning of ventilators, therapeutic gas delivery devices, and departmental analyzers
-
No prior experience required for this position

Healthcare or customer service experience is preferred
