American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 5+ years of experience and neonatal intubation skills for a Level III NICU night shift position at a hospital in Santa Barbara, CA.

Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30); some day shift flexibility may be available

EMR: Epic experience required

Ventilators in use: Dräger VN500, Hamilton G5 & T1
-
Oscillator in use: 3100A (SensorMedics/Vyaire)

13-week contract

Current RRT credential required
-
CA State Respiratory Care Practitioner license required (license required if applicable)

Current certifications: BLS, PALS, NRP
-
Intubation certification required — must be able to independently intubate neonates (hard requirement)

Minimum 5 years of respiratory therapy experience
-
Experience required across multiple settings: NICU, ER, pediatric critical care, general pediatrics, and patient transports
-
Proficiency with neonatal and pediatric ventilator management, including high-frequency oscillation, CPAP, BiPAP, and weaning protocols
-
Experience with full range of airway management including direct intubation (neonatal and pediatric), extubation, tracheostomy care, and suctioning
-
Experience administering inhaled medications including Nitric Oxide (iNO), Inhaled Flolan, Albuterol, Racemic Epinephrine, and related agents
-
Competency with neonatal/pediatric procedures including Bubble CPAP, capillary and umbilical blood gases, apnea monitoring, and neonatal transports
-
ABG interpretation, basic EKG, chest physiotherapy, and arterial blood gas drawing skills required
-
2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
-
Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration

RRT is expected to practice at the top of license, with independent neonatal intubation as a core responsibility
-
Responsibilities include ventilator management, airway management, medication administration, neonatal/pediatric procedures, and patient transport support
-
Care experience with conditions such as respiratory distress syndrome, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, cystic fibrosis, RSV, pneumonia, aspiration, and transient tachypnea of the newborn is applicable to this role
