American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 2+ years of experience for a night shift position in a critical care-focused respiratory therapy department at a Level II Trauma Center.

Work across multiple adult units including 3 Adult ICUs, a Cardiac Critical Care Unit, an Intermediate Care Unit, and general medical floors, as well as a Level II Trauma Center ED
-
Level III NICU and PICU also on-site; training to NICU/PICU/Peds units is not required unless the position is posted specifically for that area

Common patient diagnoses include COPD, CHF, Cystic Fibrosis, ARDS, MVA trauma/surgery, pneumonia, lung cancer, stroke, ALS, GBS, COVID-19, and RSV

Ventilators and equipment used include Servo U, Servo I, Hamilton T1, Trilogy, V60, V30, EV300, and Vero Biotech Nitric Delivery (Drager used in NICU only)

Charting system: Cerner

Night shift hours: 1845–0715

Every other weekend rotation required

Voluntary call only, available 2 hours before and 2 hours after shift start time

Float to other trained units only

Holiday coverage assigned as scheduled unless RTO is included in contract

RRT credential required; CRTs and Respiratory Technicians will not be accepted

Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
-
Adult RT certifications required: BLS and ACLS
-
If assigned to NICU/PICU/Peds: BLS and NRP required; PALS preferred, plus prior NICU/PICU and adult experience
-
Strong critical care background required, including airway and ventilator management, ABG puncture and analysis, non-invasive ventilation, code blue and rapid response experience, and inhaled medication administration

Compact or ME (Maine) license required if applicable

2 professional references within the past year required, with at least one from a supervisor, manager, director, or charge nurse (peer references not accepted)

Copies of all current certifications required for consideration

Candidates must have a permanent address 100+ miles south/southwest of the facility to be eligible; candidates living 100+ miles north may be considered on a case-by-case basis

Candidates who have previously worked at any Northern Light Health Hospital in a permanent capacity are not eligible

Protocol-driven, critical care-focused RT team
-
Orientation includes 1 general orientation shift with the RT Educator, followed by 1 shift per each unit trained to (typically 4–5 shifts total)

Department support includes a Lead/Charge, Manager, Assistant Manager, RT Educator, and Medical Director
-
Any professional scrub color or pattern is acceptable; access to OR scrub machines also available
-
Free on-site parking provided

Flu vaccination required for clearance; medical exemptions only are accepted and must be submitted at least 2 weeks in advance for committee review

All RTO requests must be submitted through the Manager for approval and noted at the time of consideration
