Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT/CRT) with at least 1 year of experience for a night shift position at a Level III Trauma Center and Magnet-designated hospital in Milwaukee, WI.

Details

  • Large 933-bed Level III Trauma Center and Magnet-designated hospital in Milwaukee, WI, also designated as a Level III NICU and Comprehensive Stroke Center
  • Respiratory therapy services department serving primarily geriatric and adult patients, with some pediatric patients in the ED
  • 1:1 patient ratio
  • Ventilator equipment includes AVEA, Servo U, LPU 1200, Parapack (MRI), and Hamilton (transport) vents
  • Charting via Epic; Pyxis medication dispensing system
  • 12-hour night shifts, 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Every other weekend rotation
  • Floating required within the hospital to all units
  • On-call requirements vary
  • Holiday coverage expectations vary
  • Block scheduling is not accommodated
  • A fatigue policy is in effect limiting all staff, including travelers, to no more than 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts

Requirements

  • Active CRT or RRT credential required; license required if applicable
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in respiratory therapy, with most recent experience within the last year
  • Proficiency in vent management, CPAP, BiPAP, nebulizer treatments, A-line placement, intubation, vent weaning, extubation, and ABGs
  • Experience with AVEA, Servo U, LPU 1200, Parapack, and Hamilton ventilators required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers will be considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Orientation consists of at least one shift to learn workflow and department flow
  • Scrubs may be any color; camouflage and denim are not permitted
  • Free parking is available on-site
  • Up to 7 days of time off may be approved during the contract
  • Candidates from South Wisconsin are not eligible for this position
