American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 2+ years of experience for a night shift position at a large acute care teaching hospital, with Epic EMR experience required.

Short-term acute care setting at a large academic teaching hospital with 1,259 staffed beds
-
Respiratory therapy unit (RRT) providing a broad range of respiratory and airway management services
-
Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:45–07:15
-
Weekend requirement: every third weekend

Floating within scope may be required to meet facility needs

Epic EMR used; experience required
-
Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

Current RRT credential required

BLS (BCLS) certification required
-
Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist

Epic EMR experience required
-
Proficiency with airway management: endotracheal tube placement/suctioning, extubation, nasal and oropharyngeal airway management, tracheostomy care, and sputum specimen collection
-
Experience administering inhaled medications including Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Inhaled Flolan, inhaled steroids, Lidocaine, Nitric Oxide (iNO), Pulmicort, Racemic Epinephrine, and Xopenex
-
Experience with medication delivery systems: aerosol mask, aerosol trach setup, and metered dose inhaler

Nebulizer experience: handheld, T-piece, trach collar, and ultrasonic
-
Oxygen therapy experience including High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
-
Ventilator management skills: BiPAP, CPAP, troubleshooting high-pressure alarms, and weaning from mechanical ventilation

ABG interpretation required

Valid MO state license required; IL candidates may be considered with a pending IL license (license required if applicable)

Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility

First-time travelers are welcome to apply

RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation

Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
-
Standard travelers may remain for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break is required
-
Allied travelers may remain for up to 12 months, after which a 6-month break in service is required
