American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 2+ years of experience for a night shift position at a large academic, Level I trauma center in St. Louis, MO.

Short-term acute care hospital with 1,259 staffed beds, designated as a teaching facility and trauma center
-
RRT unit within a respiratory/neuro diagnostics department
-
Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
-
Every third weekend required

Floating within scope to meet facility needs is required

26-week contract
-
Active MO State License required; IL license accepted if pending (note pending status at time of consideration)

Current certifications: BLS and RRT
-
Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist

Epic EMR experience required
-
Proficiency in airway management: endotracheal tube placement and suctioning, extubation, nasal/oral/oropharyngeal airway management, tracheostomy suctioning, and sputum specimen collection
-
Experience administering inhaled medications including Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Inhaled Flolan, inhaled steroids, Lidocaine, Nitric Oxide (iNO), Pulmicort, Racemic Epinephrine, and Xopenex
-
Proficiency with medication delivery systems: aerosol mask and trach setups, metered dose inhaler

Nebulizer experience: handheld, T-piece, trach collar, and ultrasonic

Experience with high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) oxygen therapy
-
Ventilator management skills: BiPAP, CPAP, troubleshooting high-pressure alarms, and weaning from mechanical ventilation

ABG interpretation required

Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

Charting is done in Epic

RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO during the first week of orientation

Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler

Travel assignments are limited to 18 months, after which a 3-month break is required before returning

Parking passes are available for purchase at various lots near the facility; night shift workers may park in employee lots at no charge
