American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with critical care experience for a night shift position at a high-volume Level I Trauma Center in Roanoke, VA.

703-bed acute care academic teaching hospital and Level I Trauma Center (Adult & Pediatric)
-
Serves adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations across critical care settings including neurotrauma, cardiovascular services, and medical/surgical ICU
-
Patient ratio of 1:25
-
Robust Assess and Treat protocol with ventilator management and liberation policy in place
-
Equipment includes Servo I, Servo U, V-60 BiPAP, Optiflow heated high flow, iNOvent, and LTV1200
-
Epic EMR experience required

Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
-
Weekend requirement: every other weekend (EOW) or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block

Floating within skillset is required
-
RRT credential issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required; CRT not accepted
-
VA Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner required; other state licenses accepted with requirement to obtain a 90-day temporary authorization while VA permanent license is processed

License required if applicable

Minimum 1 year of critical care experience in a high-volume ER or Level I Trauma Center setting
-
Experience with neurotrauma, cardiovascular services, and medical/surgical ICU patients
-
Proficiency in aerosol and medication delivery systems including mask, trach, MDI, and Medihaler; skilled in administering Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Flovent, Pulmicort, Mucomyst, racemic epinephrine, inhaled Flolan, inhaled steroids, bicarbonate, and lidocaine

Competency in ABG interpretation and ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, HFNC, flow-by, high-pressure alarm troubleshooting, and weaning from mechanical ventilation

Airway management skills including extubation, oral/nasal airway placement, suctioning, sputum collection, and tracheostomy care

Proficiency in oxygen therapy and nebulizer setups (handheld, T-piece, trach collar, ultrasonic)

Current BLS and ACLS certifications required

Two professional references required for consideration

Copy of Driver's License and Social Security Card required for consideration

First-time travelers are considered; 1 year of prior travel experience is preferred

One holiday shift required per 13-week contract

All RTO, block scheduling, and special scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of application
