American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 2+ years of experience for a night shift position at a large, Level I trauma teaching hospital, requiring Epic proficiency and advanced airway and ventilator management skills.

Short-term acute care setting at a large academic teaching hospital with 1,259 staffed beds
-
Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
-
Every third weekend required

Floating within scope may be required to meet facility needs

Epic EMR used; experience required
-
Advanced airway management including endotracheal tube suctioning, extubation, nasal and oral airway management, tracheostomy suctioning, and sputum specimen collection
-
Medication administration includes Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Inhaled Flolan, Inhaled steroids, Lidocaine, Nitric Oxide (iNO), Pulmicort, Racemic Epinephrine, and Xopenex
-
Medication delivery via aerosol mask, aerosol trach setup, and metered dose inhaler

Nebulizer types include handheld, T-piece, trach collar, and ultrasonic

Oxygen therapy includes High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)

Ventilator management includes BiPAP, CPAP, troubleshooting high-pressure alarms, and weaning from mechanical ventilation

ABG interpretation required

Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
-
Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience required

Current BLS (BCLS) certification required
-
Valid Missouri state license required; pending Illinois license accepted for IL-based candidates (license required if applicable)

Epic EMR experience required

Experience with advanced airway management, ventilator management, and ABG interpretation required

First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Scrub color requirement: medium to dark gray

RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO permitted during the first week of orientation

Former permanent employees of this facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
-
Allied travelers may work up to 12 consecutive months before a 6-month break in service is required
