Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 2+ years of experience for a night shift position at a large acute care teaching hospital, with Epic charting experience required.

Details

  • Short-term acute care setting at a large academic teaching hospital with 1,259 staffed beds
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)
  • Rotating weekend requirement every third weekend
  • Floating within scope of practice to meet facility needs is required
  • Epic EMR — experience required
  • 26-week contract

Requirements

  • Current RRT credential required
  • BLS (BCLS) certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of RRT experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Proficiency in airway management: endotracheal tube/suctioning, extubation, nasal airway suctioning, oral airway placement, oropharyngeal suctioning, sputum specimen collection, and tracheostomy/suctioning
  • Experience administering inhaled medications including Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Inhaled Flolan, inhaled steroids, Lidocaine, Nitric Oxide (iNO), Pulmicort, racemic epinephrine, and Xopenex
  • Experience with medication delivery systems: aerosol setup (mask and trach), metered dose inhaler
  • Experience with nebulizer types: handheld, T-piece, trach collar, and ultrasonic
  • Experience with High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) oxygen therapy
  • Ventilator management skills: BiPAP, CPAP, troubleshooting high-pressure alarms, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
  • ABG interpretation required
  • Valid MO state license required; pending IL license may be accepted if applicable — license required if applicable
  • Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Medium to dark gray scrubs required
  • RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
  • Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Allied travelers may remain for up to 12 months, after which a 6-month break in service is required
  • Parking passes are available at various nearby lots and garages at the traveler's own expense; night shift workers may park in employee parking at no charge
