American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 2+ years of experience for a night shift position at a large acute care teaching hospital, with Epic charting experience required.

Short-term acute care setting at a large academic teaching hospital with 1,259 staffed beds
-
Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45–07:15)

Rotating weekend requirement every third weekend

Floating within scope of practice to meet facility needs is required

Epic EMR — experience required

26-week contract

Current RRT credential required

BLS (BCLS) certification required

Minimum 2 years of RRT experience required

Epic EMR experience required

Proficiency in airway management: endotracheal tube/suctioning, extubation, nasal airway suctioning, oral airway placement, oropharyngeal suctioning, sputum specimen collection, and tracheostomy/suctioning

Experience administering inhaled medications including Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Inhaled Flolan, inhaled steroids, Lidocaine, Nitric Oxide (iNO), Pulmicort, racemic epinephrine, and Xopenex
-
Experience with medication delivery systems: aerosol setup (mask and trach), metered dose inhaler

Experience with nebulizer types: handheld, T-piece, trach collar, and ultrasonic

Experience with High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) oxygen therapy

Ventilator management skills: BiPAP, CPAP, troubleshooting high-pressure alarms, and weaning from mechanical ventilation

ABG interpretation required

Valid MO state license required; pending IL license may be accepted if applicable — license required if applicable

Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

Medium to dark gray scrubs required

RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation

Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
-
Allied travelers may remain for up to 12 months, after which a 6-month break in service is required
-
Parking passes are available at various nearby lots and garages at the traveler's own expense; night shift workers may park in employee parking at no charge
